Semiconductor Complex Project Overview

A major global semiconductor manufacturer has established a significant manufacturing presence in Kulim, Malaysia since 2006. As one of the world’s largest microcontroller manufacturers, the client has continuously expanded their operations, now employing over 16,000 highly skilled professionals in Malaysia.

Newark Engineering began its relationship with the client during the construction of their first fabrication facility (FAB) in Kulim, Malaysia in 2006, working alongside a leading EPCM engineering company to supply FM Approved EVAPCO Cooling Towers. This successful collaboration continued with the client’s second FAB expansion in 2015.

In 2022, Newark Engineering further strengthened this partnership by providing cooling solutions for the client’s latest development – the world’s largest 200-millimeter silicon carbide (SiC) fabrication facility in Kulim, Malaysia. This cutting-edge facility represents a significant advancement in semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, particularly for power-efficient electronic components.

As of 2025, Newark Engineering has supplied and installed more than 40 units of FM Approved EVAPCO Cooling Towers across the client’s Kulim, Malaysia manufacturing complex. The EVAPCO Counterflow Induced Draft design was selected for its superior performance characteristics, reliability, and compliance with the strict safety standards required for semiconductor manufacturing processes.
