Newark Engineering successfully installed a high-capacity Robatherm Makeup Air Unit with direct-driven centrifugal fans in an extremely constrained rooftop environment. Through innovative design and strategic planning, we delivered one of the largest MAU systems in the region, completing the challenging installation in just two days.
A semiconductor manufacturer in Singapore required the installation of a high-capacity makeup air unit (MAU) on their facility’s rooftop. The site presented significant challenges, including severe space limitations and height restrictions that complicated the placement of such a substantial air handling system.
Newark Engineering worked collaboratively with Robatherm and on-site contractors to develop an innovative solution to overcome these constraints. The technical team designed a custom double-stack configuration that maximized airflow capacity while minimizing the unit’s footprint, effectively addressing the space limitations.
The installed system featured one of the largest MAUs in the region, processing more than 100,000 CMH of air through a powerful 132kW direct-driven centrifugal fan motor. This substantial capacity ensured the facility could maintain proper air balance and pressure control despite high exhaust requirements from manufacturing processes.
The installation phase presented additional challenges due to the rooftop location and the unit’s size. Newark Engineering coordinated a precisely timed hoisting operation and worked around the clock with on-site contractors to complete both hoisting and installation in just two days, adhering to the client’s strict handover deadline.
Through meticulous planning, technical expertise, and close coordination with all stakeholders, Newark Engineering delivered a high-performance air management solution that met the client’s exacting requirements despite the challenging installation environment.
